Enthusiasts of Nintendo games have been on tenterhooks for any formal updates regarding the Switch 2, but thus far, Nintendo remains tight-lipped about it. However, the Federal Communications Commission has unexpectedly provided us with some insight.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a U.S. government entity, oversees radio, television, and wireless communication. Before any device featuring wireless capabilities, such as the Switch 2, can be marketed, it must undergo testing and receive approval from the FCC to ensure compliance with safety and interference regulations. During this approval process, manufacturers sometimes disclose certain details publicly, which can result in leaks like the one mentioned here.
Newly unveiled information sheds light on the forthcoming console’s significant aspects, offering us a sneak peek into what lies ahead. Although there’s no definitive launch date yet, the disclosed details suggest potential improvements, especially in terms of connectivity and hardware architecture.
Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks Reveal WiFi Upgrades, Amiibo & More
The main point gleaned from the leaks is that the new Switch model will be compatible with Wi-Fi 6, providing faster and more stable connections compared to the initial Switch, which relied on Wi-Fi 5. Although it’s not the most advanced Wi-Fi 7, this upgrade should enhance online gaming performance significantly.
A significant upgrade is the inclusion of not just one, but two USB-C ports – one positioned at the top and another at the bottom. Both these ports are equipped for device charging, offering increased flexibility when it comes to docking and charging options for travelers. Moreover, the console will maintain its compatibility with Near Field Communication (NFC), ensuring your Amiibo collection remains intact.
On the inside, the Switch 2 sports the model code BEE. This label encompasses distinct identifiers for the console itself, the Joy-Cons, and an intriguing accessory known as the Relay Box. The presence of this Relay Box might suggest the introduction of innovative wireless features.
According to predictions, Nintendo will unveil further details on April 2nd through their upcoming Nintendo Direct. In the meantime, we’re all aboard the excitement wagon!
