Previously crowned AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Swerve Strickland, squared off with Cope following the conclusion of AEW Revolution. In the night’s main event, it was Cope who stepped forward to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
At AEW Revolution’s end, Swerve Strickland, the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion, encountered Cope. In the headlining match, it was Cope who issued a challenge to Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
Over the last several months, the competition between Moxley and Cope has significantly escalated. At AEW World’s End, Cope reappeared with his eyes set on Moxley’s championship title. For the past month, he has strategically eliminated key members from Moxley’s Death Riders faction.
At the AEW Revolution event, Cope got rid of PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Marina Shafir, leaving Moxley to face off only with Wheeler Yuta. In their match, Cope displayed a powerful struggle against Moxley, but unfortunately, he couldn’t clinch the world title victory in the end.
Additionally, the event showcased Christian Cage utilizing his title shot, escalating it into a three-way battle for the AEW World Championship. Despite the turmoil, Moxley held onto the title. He clinched the win by applying a grueling Bulldog Choke to Cage, compelling him to surrender.

Following his win, Jon Moxley found himself facing off against Swerve Strickland, who had just clinched the position as top contender. Earlier that evening, Swerve had secured this spot by besting Ricochet in a tough match. Making his way from the audience, he landed a devastating Swerve Stomp on Moxley.
As Moxley and Prince Nana debated, Strickland saw his chance to overpower him. Although Strickland’s attack on the champion ended the broadcast, the events didn’t conclude there. After the altercation, Strickland had a heated confrontation with Cope when the program went off-air, hinting at a possible future clash.
AEW Revolution fallout: Swerve Strickland & Cope face off after the show
After AEW Revolution ended its broadcast, video clips surfaced showing Swerve Strickland facing off against Cope in the ring. Swerve Strickland spoke about his years-long admiration for Cope, reminiscing on how he closely followed Cope’s career since his youth. As the current top challenger for the AEW World Championship, Swerve promised to shoulder that role and rectify the chaos caused by Moxley.
As a seasoned gamer, I’ve got to give props to Swerve Strickland for his meteoric rise, but let me just say, I carved out my own legend in the Los Angeles’ Crypto Arena way before Strickland made AEW his home. Now that he’s got Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship in his sights, we’ll have to wait and see if he can unseat Moxley. Time will only tell if our paths cross again, potentially setting up a clash between Strickland and me.
