As a longtime fan of Sabrina Carpenter, I can hardly contain my excitement for her upcoming Netflix Christmas special, “A Nonsense Christmas.” With her unique take on holiday tunes and the promise of show-stopping performances, comedic guests, and unexpected duets, this special is bound to become a new holiday tradition.
Besides Santa Claus, there’s another celebrity coming to town this Christmas! That’s right, Sabrina Carpenter will be joining in the festivities by offering a unique gift of her own. In a recent announcement on September 19th, Netflix confirmed some exhilarating news that had been buzzing around for a couple of weeks: Sabrina is set to premiere her very first Netflix Christmas special this December!
Titled “A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter“, this unique holiday special debuts on December 6th at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT. The streaming event, which won’t be live, will only be available on Netflix. The special showcases the singer performing tracks from her 2023 Christmas EP, named “Fruitcake“. As per Netflix, expect “stunning musical performances, humorous guest appearances, unanticipated duets, and plenty of surprises and entertaining cameos.” So, begin guessing who might appear as a duet partner or special guest now!
The title “A Nonsense Christmas” is connected to Carpenter’s Christmas remix of her 2022 hit single “Nonsense.” As the song gained popularity due to her suggestive performances during tours, it was reimagined with a festive twist, featuring new lyrics and jingling bells that are distinctly Christmassy. It’s clear this isn’t your traditional Christmas carol!
The carpenter added a popular Christmas melody to the six-track EP titled “Fruitcake“, launched in November 2023, that also includes four fresh holiday compositions and a rebranded version of “White Christmas”, now called “White Xmas”. It’s anticipated that this megastar will perform the entire “Fruitcake” album, with some collaborators joining on certain tracks and perhaps even premiering a couple of new surprises. Possibly a holiday remix of “Espresso” or “Please Please Please”?
Since Carpenter debuted her first album in 2015 and started acting in 2011, she gained even more recognition in 2024 with the release of her song “Espresso.” This single marked her first entry into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by her first No. 1 hit with “Please, Please, Please.
Ever since the unveiling of her sixth album titled “Short n’ Sweet“, Carpenter has persistently ruled the charts, shattered some records, and added more personal milestones to her career. This album marked her first No. 1 and top 10 entry on the Billboard 200, and it held the top spot for three consecutive weeks, as of Sept. 19. Given her current success, it’s no wonder Netflix is keen to tap into that creative energy!
Prepare for A Nonsense Christmas and listen to Fruitcake below!
