As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of the Sweet Home series, I have eagerly anticipated the release of season 3 on Netflix. The cliffhanger ending of season 2 left me with countless questions and theories, and I was thrilled to finally discover what would happen next in this post-apocalyptic monster saga.
Season 3 of the popular Netflix series “Sweet Home” was released globally on July 19, 2024. The much-awaited debut followed an intriguing cliffhanger from season 2. The scene closed with a monster cocoon hatching and Lee Eun-Hyeok (Lee Do-Hyun) emerging from it, unfazed among the monstrous world around him. With such an ending, fans have been on edge in anticipation of the final chapter. They eagerly await answers to what lies ahead, as well as resolution to the monster saga’s intriguing conclusion.
In the third part, the audience witnesses the reunion of Hyun-Su, played by Song Kang, and Eun-Yoo, portrayed by Go Min-Si, with Lee Eun-Hyeok, now transformed into a neohuman (Lee Do-Hyun). The climax reveals the monstrous form of Sang-Won, which had been dwelling inside Pyeon Sang-Wook’s body (Lee Jin-Young). Seo Yi-Su (Kim Si-A), his mutant daughter, becomes its new host due to her exceptional abilities. The monster then constructs an army using the remaining survivors, as it possesses the power to manipulate their minds.
In the final episode of Sweet Home season 3 (episode 8), Yi-Su’s monster version of Sang Won guides Hyun-Su and Eun-Hyeok to a location near the stadium. Here, an epic confrontation unfolds as monsters, humans, and neohumans clash in a fierce battle. This exciting and emotional journey concludes with a satisfying resolution for fans.
Sweet Home Season 3 ending: Does the monster version of Sang-Won get defeated?
In the final episode of Sweet Home season 3, Hyun-Su and Eun-Hyeok engage in a fierce battle against the monstrous Sang-Won inside Yi-Su’s body. With an army of creatures at its disposal, this formidable foe proves to be a formidable challenge. Eun-Hyeok, transformed into a neohuman, is determined to put an end to Yi-Su’s life in order to eradicate the monster dwelling within her. However, Hyun-Su intercedes, insistent on saving her instead. He remains hopeful that he can restore her human form, much like he did for Yi-Kyung (Lee Si-Young) before her.
An unexpected turn of events occurs as a monstrous bat creature snatches Hyun-Su away from the battlefield. In that instant, Eun-Hyeok strikes Yi-Su. Surprisingly, the human aspect within Yi-Su’s body assumes control over the beast and allows Eun-Hyeok to assault her instead. Consequently, the creature exits Yi-Su’s body, leaving her badly hurt behind.
Hyun-Su engages in a battle against a flying beast, then hurries to find Yi-Su. Once they reach shelter, she confesses that she intentionally absorbed the previous blow to facilitate her reunion with her deceased mother and renounce her will to survive. She implores Hyun-Su to avenge his father’s life and bring an end to the conflict.
In the final episode of Sweet Home’s third season, Hyun-Su re-enters the fray to confront Sang-Won’s monster. However, he soon discovers that this monster has once again possessed Pyeon Sang-Wook (Lee Jin-Wook), a fact that Hyun-Su knows makes him vulnerable.
I’ve encountered quite a few harrowing experiences in my life, but none as terrifying as this latest encounter with the monster. Initially, I, Hyun Su, was ready to fall for its deception once again. But this time, something inside me refused to be taken in. I made up my mind to put an end to it, and fortunately, Eun-Hyeok shared the same resolve.

Near the conclusion of Sweet Home season 3, the battle between monsters and humans comes to an end. Just prior to this, Sergeant Tak In-Hwan, portrayed by Yu Oh-Seong, assists other survivors in evacuating the war zone despite transforming into a monster himself. Remarkably, he continues to aid people even in his monster form. Following the cessation of hostilities, Sergeant Kim Young-Hoo, played by Kim Mu-Yeol, assumes leadership and looks after the survivors.
During this time, the final scene reveals that Eun-Yoo (Go Min-Si) has been transformed into a monster due to her inner demons taking control. Hyun-Su and Eun-Hyeok were unable to locate her. However, Eun-Hyeok informed Hyun-Su that she would join his kind, implying that she too would be reborn as a neohuman. After this revelation, Eun-Hyeok departed from Hyun-Su.
Afterward, in the final episode of Sweet Home season 3, viewers witness Hyun-Su leading the remaining survivors to the stadium, where they are being looked after by Kim Young-Hoo and the military personnel. They contemplate leaving this place, and Hyun-Su proposes that they should make their move as a united group.
Towards the close of the K-drama, Hyun-Su and the remaining soldiers as well as survivors encounter a band of neohumans. Although there’s initial hesitation, they ultimately choose to coexist with them in their community. The final scene unfolds with Hyun-Su running into Eun-Hyeok on the rooftop of a building.
Two onlookers observe Eun-Yoo strolling towards the roof edge, earbuds in, lost in music. Their expressions are benign and amused. Her actions suggest a transformation into something otherworldly, yet her human feelings seem to persist. As the K-drama concludes, Hyun-Su labels this strange new phase “Our Sweet Home.”
