Netflix unveiled a sneak peek of their upcoming docuseries titled “Chronicles of Black Hawk Down“, which recounts the true incidents that served as the foundation for Ridley Scott’s 2001 war movie, “Black Hawk Down”.
The Netflix summary for ‘Surviving Black Hawk Down‘ recounts the true events that served as inspiration for Ridley Scott’s hit film, Black Hawk Down. It combines intense storytelling with firsthand accounts from participants on both sides of the Battle of Mogadishu, offering a raw and immersive portrayal.

What happens in the Surviving Black Hawk Down trailer?
The trailer showcases discussions with soldiers from the Army Rangers and Delta Force, who were involved in the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. Throughout the series, various residents of Mogadishu, including local women and militia fighters opposing the Americans, are prominently featured. A compelling interview that’s hinted at in the series is with a local resident who captured footage on camera of the events that transpired on that momentous day.
On October 3, 1993, Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid and his troops shot down two Black Hawk helicopters dispatched to apprehend two of his high-ranking commanders. This incident sparked a U.S. military rescue mission aimed at retrieving the soldiers aboard the crashed helicopters, which later became the inspiration for Scott’s films.
In simple terms, the film “Surviving Black Hawk Down” was produced by Scott under his production banner Ridley Scott Associates. The producers for this movie are Jamal Osman and Emma Supple. Dominic Crossley-Holland and Tom Pearson serve as executive producers. Jack MacInnes directs the film.
2001’s film by Scott was based on Mark Bowden’s 1999 book titled “Black Hawk Down: A Modern War Story.” This movie, called “Black Hawk Down,” featured actors like Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Tom Sizemore, William Fichtner, and Sam Shepard. It was recognized with four Academy Award nominations and ultimately won two: Best Film Editing and Best Sound.
