Survival of the Thickest season 2 begins filming and sets cast

As a huge fan of Michelle Buteau and her hilarious show “Survival of the Thickest,” I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of this brilliant production! After the long-awaited renewal of the show earlier this year, it’s finally official – cameras have started rolling on season 2 in New York City.

Michelle Buteau’s amusing Netflix show, “Survival of the Thickest,” is nearing its comeback! Following its renewal for a second season earlier in the year, production for the new season has commenced in New York City as of July 15. Both Buteau and Netflix shared the news via Instagram.

Survival of the Thickest, which is based on the Nailed It! host’s book of the same name, first premiered on Netflix back in July 2033. The delay in the show’s renewal likely had something to do with both the writer’s and actor’s strikes that brought the entertainment industry to a standstill for many months in 2023. But season 2’s back in action almost one year to the day of season 1’s premiere!

In the video marking the commencement of season 2’s filming, Michelle Buteau along with her colleagues Tasha Smith and Tone Bell express their eagerness for fans to witness what they have been preparing for the new episodes. Buteau adds a playful invitation: “You’ll want to watch it not just once, but twice, even thrice!” I’m up for that, Michelle!

Survival of the Thickest season 2 guest stars announced!

Netflix made two exciting announcements regarding the second season of their New York-based show: production has started in the city, and the main cast is expanding. Tasha Smith, previously a recurring actor, is now a series regular and will direct episodes two and three. The returning cast members are Tone Bell, Liza Treyger, Peppermint, and Marouane Zotti. Allan K. Washington and Anthony Michael Lopez rejoin the show as guest stars, accompanied by several recognizable new faces.

During season 2, Anderson.Paak, Jonathan Chad Higginbotham, Deon Cole, Alecsys Proctor-Turner, Jerrie Johnson, Celisse, Rolonda Watts, Michael Rishawn, Tika Sumpter, Monét x Change, and RonReaco Lee will grace the screens with their appearances as special guests. Don’t miss out on catching glimpses of these talented individuals in each episode!

When I read Buteau’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter during the early stages of season 2’s filming, she excitedly shared that this upcoming season would be all about the characters stepping out of their comfort zones and taking risks. She even hinted at a sexier side to the storyline. If you haven’t checked out the series yet, trust me as a dedicated fan – you won’t want to miss out when season 2 premieres!
