An exclusive backstage report indicates that the production of Avengers: Doomsday is progressing extensively, with actors undergoing rigorous training sessions. A fresh photo of James Marsden and Simu Liu has ignited fan enthusiasm, depicting these two Marvel stars readying themselves for their respective roles. This picture follows a prolonged period of anticipation about the movie’s growing cast and intertwined plotlines.
Shang-Chi and X-Men leads pose together amid Avengers: Doomsday filming
A picture posted by celebrity physiotherapist Dr. Ethan-Ira Mamuric (@thebodymechanic.dpt) showcased Simu Liu, James Marsden, and professional player Eloise Tait at an enclosed padel court. The snapshot bore the message, “Apparently, the back wall in padel doesn’t enjoy our presence,” which swiftly gained popularity across the internet.
In the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” Simu Liu takes on his character, Shang-Chi once more. Meanwhile, James Marsden revisits his role as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops. Notably, Marsden last portrayed Cyclops in the 2014 movie, “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” The exciting thing about this new film is that it’s the first time we’ll see Shang-Chi and Cyclops together on screen within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During the surprise unveiling for the Doomsday casting, Marvel officially confirmed that Marsden would be part of the project. In addition to this announcement, it was disclosed that original X-Men cast members such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, and Rebecca Romijn would also reprise their roles.
Filming for “Avengers: Doomsday” started in April at Pinewood Studios, located in Buckinghamshire, England. It’s also said that filming is taking place at Windsor Great Park as well. This movie unites characters from different Marvel groups such as the Avengers, X-Men, the latest Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts. The confirmed cast includes Paul Rudd, Chris Hemsworth, Letitia Wright, and Tom Hiddleston. Interestingly, Robert Downey Jr. will portray Doctor Doom in this film.
Marsden’s dedication to Doomsday might limit his participation in Season 2 of Paradise, a sci-fi series by Dan Fogelman where he featured in flashbacks. According to Fogelman, Marsden is quite occupied these days and is difficult to reach.
The movie “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to premiere on December 18, 2026. Following this, we can expect “Avengers: Secret Wars” to release in December of 2027.
