Nathan Fillion is beginning to tease Guy Gardner’s role in the DCU Lanterns show.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The iconic Green Lantern character, Guy Gardner, portrayed by none other than Nathan Fillion, will make his debut in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film hitting theaters next month. But that’s not all! After his debut, Fillion is set to star in ‘Lanterns’, a DC Universe series where Kyle Chandler takes on the role of Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre plays John Stewart. I can hardly wait for these incredible adventures unfolding in the DCU!
What did Nathan Fillion say about Guy Gardner’s role in Lanterns?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fillion hinted that the character of Guy might exhibit a touch more tension in Lanterns, following his portrayal of a similar role in Superman.
He added, “I’ve performed a scene for the movie ‘Lanterns’. We have already shot it. In this scene, his character is contentedly smug. It’s intriguing to observe him in various settings and understand how these diverse surroundings might influence a character.
In addition to his comments, Fillion expressed his affection for his Green Lantern character by stating, “If you’re in a crisis and need a Green Lantern, there are thousands of them scattered across the galaxy – but this is the last one you’d want!…What makes Guy Gardner unique as a Green Lantern is that he doesn’t have to be virtuous or morally upright. All he needs is courage. And Gardner believes he can challenge Superman. Yes, you can’t beat Superman, man.
As of now, the production of Lanterns is underway, and, based on reports from Entertainment Weekly, it’s more than halfway through its filming process. Chris Mundy holds the role of the showrunner for this series, in addition to being a writer and executive producer alongside Damon Lindelof and Tom King.
Apart from Chandler, Pierre, and Fillion, the group is completed by Ulrich Thomsen playing Sinestro, Kelly Macdonald in the role of Sheriff Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, and Poorna Jagannathan portraying Zoe.
