Superman Runtime Revealed for James Gunn’s DCU Movie

The runtime for Superman has been revealed.

I can’t contain my excitement! In July, it’s finally happening: the new DC Universe film directed by James Gunn will be gracing U.S. theaters. And guess who’s taking on the iconic role of Superman? None other than David Corenswet! As for Lois Lane, we have Rachel Brosnahan stepping into those famous shoes. Can’t wait to see it unfold on the big screen!

What is the runtime of Superman?

According to DCFilmsNews source X, international distributors recently learned that Gunn’s Superman film is expected to run for approximately 2 hours and 2 minutes, which equals 122 minutes in total.

Among all Superman films so far, this one ranks as the second briefest, with only Superman IV: The Quest for Peace being shorter, clocking in at 90 minutes.

As a gamer, I’ve always found it fascinating to compare the runtimes of my favorite superhero movies. For instance, the iconic 1978 Richard Donner Superman flick and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel both clocked in at around 2 hours and 23 minutes. The sequel, Superman II, slightly shorter with 2 hours and 6 minutes (the Donner Cut was even shorter at about 1 hour and 56 minutes), while Superman III followed closely with 2 hours and 5 minutes. Fast forward to 2006, and Superman Returns stretched a bit longer to approximately 2 hours and 34 minutes. Lastly, the theatrical cut of Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came in at around 2 hours and 32 minutes.

Superman, the first DC Studios film to debut in cinemas, is set for a global release this summer, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. According to the official summary, director James Gunn brings his unique touch to the classic superhero within the revamped DC universe. The blend of grand action, humor, and emotional depth results in a Superman who acts out of compassion and faith in humanity’s goodness.

In addition to the lead actors, this movie features Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, and several others.
