The true identity of the mysterious Baby Joey character in Superman has been confirmed.
Next month, Superman soars onto screens in American cinemas. This upcoming DC Universe film, helmed by director James Gunn, features David Corenswet portraying Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan taking on the role of Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult stepping into the shoes of Lex Luthor.
Who is Baby Joey in Superman?
The baby character known as Baby Joey, who hasn’t appeared in any trailers for Superman, is rumored to be part of the film based on merchandise revealed. Some fans online suspect that this mysterious infant might be the son of Metamorpho, named Joseph Mason.
According to ComicBookMovie’s description, the children’s book named “Superman’s Friends and Foes” reveals that Baby Joey is, in fact, the toddler son of Metamorpho.
Additionally, it unveils fresh aspects concerning Lex Luthor and Metamorpho’s storyline. As the text indicates, “When Joey gets kidnapped, Metamorpho finds himself in a dilemma over collaborating with Superman or Lex Luthor.
In the movie, it’s Anthony Carrigan who brings Metamorpho to life. From what I’ve seen in the trailers, this character doesn’t seem to be part of the Justice Gang, at least not initially. Instead, he appears to be confined within a prison, a place where even Superman later gets ensnared.
The first film from DC Studios featuring Superman is set to fly into cinemas globally this summer, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. According to the official synopsis, director James Gunn reinterprets the classic superhero within a fresh take on the DC universe. With a unique mix of intense action, wit, and emotional depth, Gunn creates a Superman who is motivated by empathy and faith in humanity’s inherent goodness.
In addition to the main actors, we have Edi Gathegi playing Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion portraying Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría taking on the role of Angela Spica/The Engineer, and several others joining the team.
Superman hits United States theaters on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
