A brief glimpse at James Gunn’s Superman production has been shared, revealing the character that Michael Rooker will play in the film.

Previously collaborating with Gunn on multiple films, Rooker has teamed up with him once more to provide the voice for one of Superman’s Kryptonian robots. A sneak peek shared on YouTube shows a wounded Superman being pulled by his pet dog, Krypto, to the Fortress of Solitude. Upon arrival, Superman is welcomed by his mechanical companions who transport him to a treatment area inside the fortress.

In the dialogue, it’s important to note that Alan Tudyk voices Robot 4, but around the 3-minute mark, we hear Robot 5, who is given voice by Rooker, utter “Fourteen broken bones.

On this occasion, it’s the second project that Rooker has collaborated with Gunn for a DC film. Earlier, he portrayed the character Savant in Gunn’s 2021 production titled “The Suicide Squad”.

In an interview with Geek House Show in 2022, Rooker was asked about any differences between Marvel and DC’s filmmaking approach. He responded that from his perspective, the process is essentially the same regardless of which studio you’re working with. Additionally, he mentioned that he had to apply more makeup for his role as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy compared to his role as Savant in The Suicide Squad.

By November 2023, there were whispers that Rooker could portray Lois Lane’s father, Sam, in the Superman movie. But Gunn put an end to those speculations when a fan asked him about it on Threads.
