Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth are currently dominating the box office, with their success and popularity standing out as significant industry trends. Superman has surpassed significant global milestones, while Rebirth continues to perform well due to its strong performance in international markets. Meanwhile, Lilo & Stitch made history by becoming the first Hollywood film of the year to exceed one billion dollars in earnings, overshadowing newer movies that are having trouble gaining momentum.
Superman continues strong box office performance in second weekend
Superman has crossed $400 million at the global box office, beating Thunderbolts*.
As of July 20th, the movie has made a total of $406,833,462 globally, with earnings of $235,033,462 in domestic box offices and $171,800,000 overseas. This figure is based on data from Box Office Mojo. The film, distributed by Warner Bros., opened to a strong $125 million and has held the number one spot for an impressive 10 days straight. As of Sunday, it can be seen in 4,275 cinemas, generating an average of over $4,000 per theater.
Jurassic World Rebirth almost reaches $650 million worldwide
The sequel to Jurassic World, titled Jurassic World: Rebirth, is still raking in the money with a domestic earnings of $276 million and $371 million from international box offices. This brings its total global gross to an impressive $648 million as reported by Box Office Mojo.
In simple terms, the follow-up movie from Universal has maintained steady ticket sales during its third weekend. It initially opened to a box office gross of $92 million and is currently playing on its 19th day at approximately 3,854 cinemas across North America.
Lilo & Stitch hits the billion dollar benchmark
In the year 2025, Disney’s updated version of Lilo & Stitch has broken the record as the initial Hollywood movie to earn over $1 billion worldwide.
The movie generated a total of $1,007,986,676 worldwide, with $418,186,676 earned domestically and $589,800,000 internationally (according to Box Office Mojo). It achieved this impressive milestone on its 59th day in cinemas, having initially premiered on May 23. On its widest release, it was shown in 4,410 theaters and opened with a strong $146 million.
New movies don’t offer much competition this weekend
The horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer” has earned approximately $13 million domestically and $11.6 million internationally, bringing its global total to around $24.6 million (Box Office Mojo data). Meanwhile, the animated movie “Smurfs” grossed $11 million in the US and $22.6 million internationally, resulting in a worldwide earnings of about $33.6 million (Box Office Mojo figures).
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve been eagerly following the box office performance of A24’s Eddington. In its initial domestic run, it managed to rake in an impressive $4,255,607 over its first three days (according to Box Office Mojo). However, despite this strong start, none of the three films were able to dethrone the top five at the box office.
F1 closes in on new box office milestone
Movie’s total earnings in North America and abroad have reached a staggering $460,842,641. With its current trajectory, it’s predicted to surpass the $500 million milestone shortly, as reported by Box Office Mojo.
The movie, which was distributed by Warner Bros., has been playing for four weeks now. It kicked off with a $57 million debut and is still holding its own in foreign box offices, thanks to high demand for racing-themed stories and favorable buzz from audiences.
