James Gunn is disclosing that he’s currently preparing the groundwork for his forthcoming DC Studios venture, all while overseeing post-production on both Superman: Legacy and Peacemaker Season 2. This revelation has sparked discussions about which upcoming DCU project we might see next, given the studio’s ongoing efforts to build a cohesive cinematic universe.
James Gunn confirms ‘pre-writing’ next DC Studios project
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that James Gunn, one of the CEOs at DC Studios, has revealed he’s been secretly penning down ideas for his upcoming DC project even as he supervises post-production on Superman: Legacy and Peacemaker Season 2. The anticipation is building!
In an interview on Threads, Gunn shared that most of his time is dedicated to post-production work for Superman and Peacemaker. Additionally, he’s been putting in a considerable amount of effort pre-writing for his upcoming DC Studios project, while also reviewing daily footage and offering suggestions for other projects. This feels significantly less daunting compared to when he was directing himself.
The movie maker is additionally working on “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” set to be released as the second film within a fresh DC Universe. Additionally, Gunn’s written and executive-produced animated series titled “Creature Commandos” has completed its initial season recently.
What will Gunn’s next DC Studios movie or series be?
One possibility among the potential scripts James Gunn is currently developing includes “The Authority,” “Booster Gold,” or a follow-up for Superman.
As a passionate gamer, I’d put it this way: “For me, The Authority represents one of my heartfelt gaming endeavors. They’re a group who genuinely believe the world is shattered beyond repair, and they’re willing to bend or break the rules to set things right – even if that means taking lives, toppling leaders, or reshaping governments. It’s their way of restoring order, as they see it.
Legacy, potentially incorporating Supergirl following her introduction in Supergirl: Girl of the Future.
1) DC Studios has numerous projects in progress, such as The Brave and the Bold, Paradise Lost, Waller, and Lanterns. James Gunn’s work on early drafts underscores a larger plan for the DC Universe. This interconnected universe is officially launching with Superman: Legacy, scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.
