Superman Funko Pops Reveal New Details on Mysterious DCU Villain

New Funko Pops for James Gunn’s Superman seemingly reveal a major DCU secret.

In July of this year, it’s scheduled for release in American cinemas. Titled “Superman,” the film is helmed by Gunn, with David Corenswet donning the superhero cape as the lead character. Rachel Brosnahan takes on the role of Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult embodies Lex Luthor, the wicked antagonist.

In the upcoming movie, I’ll be encountering a formidable foe known as the Hammer of Boravia. This new character is uniquely crafted for this film, and based on what I’ve seen so far in the previews, he seems to hold his own against the Man of Steel. However, details about him are scarce at the moment.

Newly released Funko Pops for Superman, however, may have now spoiled his identity.

What did the Superman Funk Pops seemingly spoil about a DCU villain?

The “Hammer of Boravia” Funko Pop you’re seeking is referred to as Ultraman, since these two figures share the same product number. As pointed out by Josh Wilding from ComicBookMovie, Funko usually produces a “chase” variant only when both figures feature the same character.

When you buy Funko collectibles, there’s often a possibility that you’ll get a ‘chase’ item. This means you might receive a rare, limited version of the product instead of the standard one. These ‘chase’ versions are distributed at random and can appear in various color schemes, as glow-in-the-dark figures, velvety textured ones (flocked), glitter or metallic enhanced figures, black light reactive figures, and so on.

While it hasn’t been definitively stated, the evidence suggests a strong possibility that Hammer of Boravia and Ultraman could be one and the same. However, there is still the question of how an unmasked Ultraman would appear in comparison to his DC Comics version, which adds a layer of uncertainty.

Fans of DC comics can definitively learn that Superman will grace U.S. cinemas and IMAX screens on July 11, 2025, as confirmed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
