Westworld’s Angela Sarafyan joins Bradley Cooper to play Superman’s parents

In the forthcoming Superman movie directed by James Gunn, Bradley Cooper is set to embody the character of Jor-El. This information comes from Omelete. Meanwhile, Angela Sarafyan, recognized for her role in Westworld, has been chosen to play Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s biological mother.

Initially, both main characters make their appearance during the film’s opening segment, which was displayed in a 30-minute sneak peek at various international fan gatherings. In this particular scene, Superman is depicted entering the Fortress of Solitude with injuries. Subsequently, robotic helpers activate a holographic recording containing messages from Jor-El and Lara, spoken in Kryptonian language.

James Gunn, the director known for Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy, confirmed that actor Bradley Cooper, along with Pom Klementieff and Michael Rooker, will be part of the film during its press tour. As stated by Gunn, “It’s Bradley, it’s also Pom [Klementieff], and Michael Rooker is another one of the robots.” All three actors have worked with Gunn on previous Marvel projects, and they are set to appear in a sequence within the Fortress of Solitude.

In this movie, David Corenswet portrays both Superman and Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan starring as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult steps into the shoes of Lex Luthor, while Wendell Pierce assumes the role of Perry White, editor-in-chief at the Daily Planet. Lastly, Skyler Gisondo plays Jimmy Olsen.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the movie has brought on board some exciting new DC characters. I, for one, am particularly excited about Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. María Gabriela de Faría beautifully embodies Angela Spica/The Engineer, a character with ties to The Authority.

In addition to the main cast, Sean Gunn portrays Maxwell Lord, Alan Tudyk takes on the role of Robot #4, while Milly Alcock makes her first appearance as Supergirl. Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell join in as Jonathan and Martha Kent, respectively.

Superman releases in theaters on July 11, 2025.
