As a long-time fan of the Arrowverse and Jon Cryer’s portrayal of Lex Luthor, it is disappointing to hear about his regret at not being part of Superman & Lois. Having followed the character’s journey across various DC series, it felt like a missing piece in the grand narrative to see him absent from this particular show.
Actor Jon Cryer recently disclosed his greatest disappointment from his time in the Arrowverse during an interview. Known for playing Lex Luthor in Supergirl and various other DC series, he expressed regret over not making an appearance on Superman & Lois. Additionally, Cryer looked back on the end of the Arrowverse and reminisced about the extraordinary storytelling journey it provided.
Jon Cryer says his biggest regret was not returning for Superman & Lois
Jon Cryer recently voiced his regrets about not returning to play his character in Superman & Lois, as he shared in an interview with KJ TODAY. Reflecting on his time within the Arrowverse, he fondly remembered diving into the intricacies of DC comics lore and embracing his inner nerd. He expressed his biggest remorse was not having the chance to be part of it.
In various shows like Supergirl, Batwoman, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, Jon Cryer famously played Lex Luthor, most notably during crossover events. Unfortunately, he did not secure a role in Superman & Lois, which ended its four-season run on December 2, 2024.
Regarding the show, Cryer expressed his sadness saying, “It’s unfortunate that Superman & Lois will be ending too, as I believe they delivered an exceptional portrayal of these classic characters. They truly captured the essence of Superman in a fresh and authentic way.
In the TV show “Superman & Lois,” Michael Cudlitz played Lex Luthor. As the series has ended, it’s noticeable that Jon Cryer, who has previously portrayed Lex Luther, is absent from Lex Luthor’s acting history.
In 2025, it’s Nicholas Hoult who steps into the shoes of Lex Luthor for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. This movie continues the storied history of Lex Luthor within the DC Extended Universe on the big screen.
