What do we know about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?
In the United States, “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. This movie will be the second feature film in the upcoming DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran, following the 2025 release of Superman.
In the main character part of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, we’ll see Milly Alcock. Accompanying her in the upcoming DCU movie are Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and others. The film will be helmed by Craig Gillespie, a director renowned for his work on Lars and the Real Girl (2007), Fright Night (2011), I, Tonya (2017), Cruella (2021), and most recently, Dumb Money (2023).
The solicitation for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 states: “Kara Zor-El has lived through extraordinary experiences throughout her life, yet finds herself feeling aimless and without purpose.” In this issue, we find Kara, a young woman who witnessed the destruction of her home planet, sent to Earth to protect her baby cousin Superman. Now that her cousin doesn’t require her protection, she wonders why she was put on Earth at all. People perceive her only through the lens of Superman’s fame, making her feel insignificant. But just when Kara feels like giving up, everything changes. An alien girl reaches out to her for a dangerous mission. Her world has been destroyed, and those responsible are still roaming free. The girl seeks revenge, and if Supergirl refuses to help, she’ll do it herself, no matter the cost. Now, a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child embark on a space journey that will challenge them to their very core.
