Jason Momoa is ready for the world to embrace him as the DCU’s Lobo.
In a future DC Universe film titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” directed by Craig Gillespie, Jason Momoa will take on the role of Lobo. Previously, Momoa portrayed Aquaman/Arthur Curry in the DCEU, making his debut as this character in Zack Snyder’s “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
What did Jason Momoa say about playing Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?
On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, I found myself sharing an interesting tidbit – initially, I thought I’d be donning the armor for Lobo in the DCEU universe.
He declared, ‘I own every Lobo comic. He’s been my favorite character. When Zack Snyder contacted me, I thought I might be playing the role of Lobo since they needed a villain for Batman vs. Superman.’
Momoa expressed his shock upon discovering that he was chosen for the role of Aquaman. Kimmel humorously noted their resemblance to Lobo, to which Momoa responded, “Rides a motorbike, enjoys cigars, and adores Guinness beer. Frankly, it’s almost too perfect. The dreadlocks certainly don’t hurt!
Furthermore, it’s been verified that Jason Momoa continues to shoot scenes for the upcoming DCU film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” Principal photography for this movie began in January 2024, and it is scheduled for a release on June 26, 2026.
In addition to Momoa, the cast for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow includes Milly Alcock portraying Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts taking on the role of Krem from the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s mother.
The film, penned by Ana Nogueira, is based on a DC miniseries titled “Batman’s Grave,” written by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, which was released in 2021 and 2022. In this comic book series, Kara, who is celebrating her 21st birthday, embarks on an interstellar journey with Ruthye, pursuing vengeance for transgressions wrought by Krem from the Yellow Hills.
