Wonderful experience working on [Supergirl] with [Milly Alcock and Emily Beecham]. Thank you to Craig Gillespie, Peter Safran & [James Gunn], as well as an exceptional cast and crew based in London!” Krumholtz wrote in the Instagram post.

The article included a photo showing both sides of his director’s chair, displaying the official emblem for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, but curiously, the phrase “Woman of Tomorrow” is absent from the logo, hinting that, similar to Superman before it, the DCU film might have abandoned its subtitle.

Initially, James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film was titled “Superman: Legacy.” However, when production on the DCU movie started in February 2024, the title had been simplified to just “Superman.” Gunn himself explained that the title change occurred because by the time he completed the final draft of the script, it was evidently called “SUPERMAN.

In cinemas soon: Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – inspired by the 2022 comic book series penned by Tom King. This story chronicles the adventures of 21-year-old Kara Zor-El, accompanied by her canine companion Krypto, as they journey through the cosmos. Along their travels, they encounter a young girl named Ruthye and embark on a violent mission to exact retribution for a past wrong.

Ana Nogueira transformed the miniseries into a feature film, with Craig Gillespie serving as director and Milly Alcock portraying the lead character. The ensemble also features Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Jason Momoa taking on the role of Lobo.

Supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, as the second film of the DCU.
