Sunderfolk begins its campaign with April release date

The thrill of adventure beckons the brave ones who dare to explore it. Sunderfolk, hailing from Dreamhaven and developed by Secret Door, offers a unique twist on digital role-playing games (RPGs) that are typically tabletop-style. Instead of relying on a conventional controller, players will manage every facet of their character using a mobile app. If you’re intrigued and eager to learn more, the wait won’t be prolonged much longer as Sunderfolk seems poised for an April launch.

At the Dreamhaven Showcase held on Tuesday, it was announced that the game Sunderfolk is scheduled for release on April 25, Wednesday. For those not familiar with it, Sunderfolk narrates the tale of the Sunderlands, a tranquil village inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The story revolves around their quest to preserve their land from an enigmatic corruption called the Arden. This game follows the format of a turn-based RPG, but with a unique twist – it adopts the mechanics of tabletop games. Consequently, the quests take place on a hexagonal grid and players will roll dice to ascertain if their attacks are impacted by any favorable or unfavorable effects.

Initially, Shacknews had a glimpse at Sunderfolk in October, appreciating its potential for an engaging tabletop gameplay experience on dual screens. More recently, I was given another chance to test the game during this year’s Game Developers Conference. During my playthrough, I switched from the Pyromancer character to the sharp-eyed Ranger. This is where I encountered thrilling surprises such as a mission that required rolling barrels into a chasm before our party was swarmed by orcs crawling up from the shadows below. Additionally, The Secret Door team demonstrated various sections of the hub village, including a place where players could uncover and display cosmetic items in multiple colors.

As an avid fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about the hands-on experience NVIDIA is offering for Sunderfolk! Fortunately, they’ve made it possible through their GeForce NOW service, and right now, a First Look Demo is accessible to everyone. You just need to sign up with a username, and you can enjoy the demo until Friday, April 7. Even without a paid membership, you can still dive into this unique gaming experience!

Check out where you can find Sunderfolk‘s release – it’s coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch! With all the fresh news emerging from the Dreamhaven Showcase, stay tuned to Shacknews for the most recent developments.
