Sundae School Softens Up for SS25: “Amor Fati”

Although Valentine’s Day has passed, Sundae School continues to celebrate love in all its boundless forms within the Asian American community. Following the release of their Fall/Winter 2024 collection, “Resilience,” which drew inspiration from rebellion, Dae Lim and his streetwear-meets-“smokewear” brand are now turning their attention to a more tender theme for their Spring/Summer 2025 range titled “Amor Fati.

The concept embodied by the Latin phrase “Amor Fati” is “embracing one’s destiny.” This idea is beautifully reflected in the diverse collection of the Korean-American brand, which not only refines its established designs but also invites wearers to ponder on love’s persistent role in their lives. This can be experienced through various aspects such as family bonds, friendships, romantic relationships, or personal growth.

Consistently drawing inspiration from its cultural roots, Sundae School continues to shape its designs based on traditional Hanbok silhouettes. This season also features modern takes on button-down shirts, characterized by a unique midline of curved buttons. The collection includes heavyweight yet stylish zip-up hoodies, sweatpants, and shorts under the brand name Sweatseats.

At the heart of this collection lies Sundae School’s distinctive mochi flower design. Symbolizing resilience, growth, and love, this bloom is woven throughout the collection, showcased in delicate embroidery as well as bolder graphics. As stated in a press release, “Each piece in SS25 has been painstakingly designed to convey comfort and emotional depth, wrapping the wearer in a soothing embrace from both inside and out.
