Succession Creator’s HBO Movie With Steve Carell Casts Monsters Star & 6 More

Seven actors have joined the cast of Succession creator Jesse Armstrong’s new HBO movie.

Armstrong is currently developing an as-yet unnamed film for HBO that revolves around a global, ongoing predicament. Previously, it was disclosed that the cast comprises Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, and Ramy Youssef.

As reported by Deadline, I’ve been thrilled to learn that I, Amie MacKenzze, will be joining the cast of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. In this gripping tale, I’ll be portraying a character named Janine. Can’t wait to bring her story to life!

Additionally, Hadley Robinson (Anyone but You), Andy Daly (Lessons in Chemistry), Ali Kinkade (Yellowstone), Daniel Oreskes (A Real Pain), David Thompson (It’s What’s Inside), and Ava Kostia (The Stairwell) have been added to the ensemble, with Hadley playing Hester, Andy as Casper, Ali as Berry, Daniel as Dr. Phipps, David as Leo, and Ava as Paula.

The “story centers around a circle of wealthy acquaintances, gathering amidst a global emergency setting,” as described by Deadline. At present, more specific details about the plot are being kept confidential.

In the movie, it was Armstrong who penned the screenplay and additionally took on the role of an executive producer. This position is shared with Frank Rich, Lucy Prebbe, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick.

Armstrong is set to make his debut in directing a full-length movie. Previously, he had experience with short films and has also penned movies including In the Loop (2009), Four Lions (2010), The Day Shall Come (2019), and Downhill (2022).

On TV, Armstrong is particularly recognized for the creation of HBO’s Succession, which debuted in 2018 and earned him multiple Emmy Awards and other honors during its highly praised four-season span. He also developed several British shows, including Peep Show, The Old Guys, Fresh Meat, and Babylon.
