This week at Unknown Worlds, there’s been a sudden departure of three top executives – CEO Ted Gill, co-founder and creative director Charlie Cleveland, and co-founder and technical director Max McGuire. Krafton, the new owner, has appointed Steve Papoutsis, former CEO of Striking Distance, as the new CEO of Unknown Worlds. The reasons for the departures aren’t clear, but the company and its ongoing project, Subnautica 2, are continuing development.
In a public announcement, Krafton disclosed the management shifts happening at Unknown Worlds. The motives behind these departures were not revealed by any party, but Krafton extended their best wishes to Gill, Cleveland, and McGuire as they move on from the company.
Krafton added that Subnautica 2 will continue its development in its press release:
Following the departure of three key figures who have been with Unknown Worlds for a long time, it’s understandable to feel a bit worried about the future of the Subnautica series. However, at this moment, the project appears to be moving ahead as planned. Keep an eye on updates and news regarding Subnautica for further information.
