The lineup for the “Street Fighter” movie is expanding as Deadline confirms that they have secured an actor to portray Dhalsim in the upcoming live-action adaptation.
Who is playing Dhalsim in the live-action Street Fighter movie?
As per a report by Deadline, Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal has been added to the cast of the movie, playing the character Dhalsim. Notably, this role marks Jammwal’s Hollywood debut, although he is already well-recognized in India. In his home country, Jammwal is particularly famous for his roles in the highly successful Commando film series.
As a devout fan, I’d put it this way: “I hail from the Street Fighter universe, and I am Dhalsim – a mystic yogi who typically adheres to peace. Yet, in an unusual twist, I find myself defying my principles by joining the World Warrior tournament. My goal? To gather funds for my impoverished village. In the eyes of Street Fighter’s narrative, Dhalsim stands as one of the most upright characters. Fast forward to 1994, British actor Roshan Seth breathed life into my character in the live-action movie.
In the upcoming movie, Cody Rhodes, who’s well-known as a WWE star, has been confirmed to portray Guile, and there are whispers that Joe Anoa’i, commonly recognized as Roman Reigs in the wrestling world, may embody Akuma.
The lineup for the upcoming Street Fighter film boasts an illustrious ensemble, with Andrew Koji portraying Ryu, Callina Liang stepping into Chun-Li’s role, Noah Centineo taking on Ken, Jason Momoa bringing Blanka to life, Roman Reigns embodying Akuma, Orville Peck becoming Vega, Andrew Schulz donning the hat as Dan Hibiki, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson assuming the role of Balrog. Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Hirooki Goto will portray E. Honda, and WWE star Cody Rhodes may play Guile.
Filming for the movie is scheduled to start down under in August. At present, specifics about the storyline are being kept secret. Notably, Legendary Entertainment and Capcom are collaborating on both the development and production of this project.
A release date for the Street Fighter movie has not yet been set.
