Stranger Things Star Joins Godzilla x Kong Sequel Cast

Matthew Modine has been cast in the Godzilla x Kong sequel Monsterverse movie.

As a hardcore gamer, I can’t help but feel like a kid on Christmas morning when it comes to Legendary’s Monsterverse. It all started back in 2014 with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, and ever since then, it’s been one epic monster mash-up after another! Sequels, crossovers, TV shows… you name it! And now, the excitement is building yet again as another Monsterverse film is on its way, set to hit theaters in 2027. I can hardly wait to see what monstrous adventures await us next!

Who else is starring in the Godzilla x Kong sequel?

According to the set deadline, Modine has been chosen for a mystery character in the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong sequel. He’ll be joining Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, and Dan Stevens, with the latter returning to his role as Trapper.

Modine has gained recognition for his role as Dr. Martin Brenner in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Throughout his career, he’s appeared in films like “Vision Quest” from 1985, “Married to the Mob” in 1988, “Cutthroat Island” in 1995, “The Dark Knight Rises” from 2012, and the upcoming “Oppenheimer,” which is set for release in 2023, among numerous other productions.

In a recent conversation with ComingSoon, Modine discussed the 40th anniversary of Vision Quest. He explained that when making a movie, one must consider its potential influence on people’s lives, either positively or negatively. Some suggest remaking Vision Quest, but according to him, it cannot be recreated because certain aspects of the film would be deemed inappropriate for today’s audience, potentially leading to Louden being canceled in today’s world. However, he noted that the mistakes and inappropriate actions portrayed by the character serve as learning tools and experiences in life.

Currently, specifics about the storyline for the Godzilla and Kong sequel are kept secret. Directed by Grant Sputore, who previously made I Am Mother in 2019, the film is his second feature. The screenplay was penned by Dave Callaham.

The Godzilla x Kong sequel movie will be released in United States theaters on March 26, 2027.
