Matt and Ross Duffer, commonly recognized as the Duffer Brothers, introduced their hit series “Stranger Things” on Netflix back in July 2016. Since then, the show has been instrumental in boosting Netflix’s global success, establishing itself as one of the streaming giant’s premier productions. As we speak, the fifth and final season is set to air in 2025, following its completion in filming. Originally announced to consist of eight episodes, Ross Duffer has recently shared that each episode would be akin to a blockbuster movie.
Duffer Bros claim Stranger Things Season 5 would be ‘intense’ and ‘epic’
At the yearly Netflix Next event, the Duffer Brothers recently showed up. This gathering streamed sneak peeks from upcoming movies and series scheduled for 2025 on Netflix. The brothers presented a fresh behind-the-scenes glimpse at Stranger Things Season 5 and shared insights about the show’s future and what fans might anticipate.
Ross Duffer stated that it took an entire year to film this season’s footage. In total, we accumulated more than 650 hours of video. Therefore, it goes without saying that this is our most extensive and daring season yet, equivalent to eight blockbuster films. It’s absolutely mind-blowing, he concluded.” (via Entertainment Weekly)
Matt Duffer has guaranteed that Season 5 will be both grand and thrilling, with no gradual build-up; instead, it’s set to be action-packed right from the start until the very end.
Previously, it’s been noted that the episodes of Stranger Things tend to be longer than typical shows on TV and streaming services. For example, Episode 7 of Season 4 runs for about an hour and 40 minutes, while the season finale clocks in at approximately two hours and 22 minutes. In a statement made in 2022, Ross Duffer referred to these episodes as being “movies” in terms of their length, with Matt Duffer labeling the Season 4 finale as “a long movie.
Significantly, during this year’s Next on Netflix event, the Duffer brothers discussed the Stranger Things series. Matt Duffer expressed, “There are more stories to tell from the Stranger Things universe, and we’re currently working on them.” He further mentioned, “At this stage, it’s premature to discuss them, but rest assured, we’re deeply invested in each one.
As an ardent follower, I can’t help but share some exciting tidbits about upcoming projects from the creative minds behind our favorite service. They mentioned casually, “The Boroughs” and “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.” These tantalizing titles certainly pique my curiosity!
