Recently, Silambarasan TR revealed the character poster for his upcoming movie, currently known as STR51. This film is expected to hit theaters in 2026. Now, the director of the movie, Ashwath Marimuthu, has shared some insights about it.
During an interview with SS Music, Ashwath expressed his thoughts about the Silambarasan film where he’s cast as “The God of Love.” However, the visual style of this role deviates from the traditional representations often seen.
In his discussion, the director explained that “the character is portrayed as a deity of love, yet this isn’t a traditional love story. The film is undeniably designed for fans of mine, but it also incorporates aspects that are characteristic of my work. We revealed earlier, during its announcement, that the movie would embody a classic style reminiscent of STR.
Moving forward, the director shared an interesting aspect about the photo shoots for both the announcement and character posters. Although they crafted AI simulations to ready the actor earlier, the real photo sessions turned out to be even more awe-inspiring.
Furthermore, the director elaborated on how the character STR transforms from a cordial individual off-screen into an intimidating figure on-screen. He also mentioned that this character in the film carries numerous imperfections.

In the near future, film director Ashwath Marimuthu is planning to debut his new movie, “Dragon,” on the big screen in 2025. This highly anticipated film will premiere on February 21, 2025, and it will star Pradeep Ranganathan, who became famous for his work in Love Today, as the main character.
As a passionate admirer, I’d like to share that the movie is known for its blend of humor and emotion, focusing on the journey of Raghavan, a young college student grappling with turmoil after a heart-wrenching breakup. Seeking rapid success in an unconventional way, he ventures into the realm of financial chicanery.
The film features Pradeep as the main character, along with prominent performances by Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, George Maryan, Indumathy Manikandan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, and several others in significant roles.
In a different turn of events, Silambarasan TR will make an appearance in the upcoming film titled Thug Life. This movie features Kamal Haasan as the main character. Directed by Mani Ratnam, this gangster action movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2025.
