WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin shared his thoughts on John Cena’s shocking heel turn but gave an unexpected response when asked if he had any advice for the 16-time world champion.
At WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto, Cena stunned the world by turning heel. He secured his spot in the main event of WrestleMania 41, where he will challenge Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes for the title in Las Vegas.
After the wrestling match ended, Cena stunned fans when he landed a sneaky low blow on Rhodes, marking his first shift to playing a villain (heel) in two decades. He heightened the tension by teaming up with The Rock, causing ripples of shock throughout the wrestling community.
It has been a while since fans last saw John Cena on WWE programming, as many believed he would never switch to the dark side. However, this is about to change as he is set to speak out on an upcoming episode of WWE RAW. Meanwhile, Stone Cold Steve Austin, a fellow wrestler, has expressed his thoughts on Cena’s heel turn and stated that he will not be offering any advice in this matter.
It’s going to be INSANE when @JohnCena and Undisputed WWE Champion @CodyRhodes meet face-to-face on #WWERaw tomorrow!

Stone Cold refuses to advise John Cena on heel turn — here’s why
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Stone Cold Steve Austin was asked about John Cena’s heel turn. He found Cena’s turn intriguing and noted that fans might react in unexpected ways. He stated:
“Man, I haven’t really thought about it. Uh, you know, at some point, everybody turns, I guess. It’s just the point at which he turned. So, you know, it’d be interesting—did he turn heel, or did he turn more babyface? You know, the fans love him. They might take this and run the other way with it. Who knows? I like John. We’ve always gotten along well, and, you know, I’m happy for him.”
When questioned about giving advice to John Cena, Austin looked back on his own heel turn during WrestleMania 17 and declared he wouldn’t provide any guidance in this case. In simpler terms, he said he wouldn’t give John Cena any advice.
“I think I tried too hard. And, you know, when I look back at it, sure, I got to push the creative envelope and do a lot of things that were cool or whatever—push the envelope in a different direction and go out on a limb. But people didn’t want me to turn heel, and so I should have never done that. So, I don’t think I need to offer John Cena any advice from Steve Austin. John’s a very smart man.”
With John Cena aligning himself with The Rock against Cody Rhodes, many fans expect Stone Cold Steve Austin to return and side with Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. Recently, Austin was announced for WWE World on April 19-20—the same weekend as WrestleMania 41—fueling further speculation about a potential appearance.
