Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie Delayed, Everything Everywhere Directors’ Film Loses Release Date

The release date for Steven Spielberg’s next big event film for Univeral Pictures has been delayed.

Currently, Steven Spielberg is busy with a film project that’s sparking whispers of extraterrestrial themes. Initially planned for release in US cinemas on May 15, 2026.

When is the new release date for Steven Spielberg’s next movie?

Per Deadline, Universal has now bumped the movie to June 12, 2026.

2026, here I am, hyped for the new flick from the Daniels, the dynamic duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once. But guess what? The release date for their upcoming masterpiece has mysteriously vanished from Universal Pictures’ schedule. Oh, the suspense!

According to an article on Deadline, progress is being made with the Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert-directed/written film. However, it seems that a bit more time is required before its completion. A release date will be announced shortly.

Spielberg’s upcoming film now has the same release date as the reboot of Scary Movie. The live-action Masters of the Universe movie from Amazon MGM Studios will be released a week earlier, while Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is set to premiere in theaters on June 19, 2026.

Instead of releasing in May 2026, the movie would potentially find itself up against heavy competition from other popular titles. Specifically, it would have to battle with Avengers: Doomsday, launching on May 1st, as well as The Mandalorian and Grogu, which are set to debut on May 22nd.

Currently, the specifics of the plot for Spielberg’s upcoming movie are being kept secret. The film stars Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson. David Koepp is responsible for writing the script, while Kristie Macosko Krieger serves as a producer under Amblin Entertainment.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the upcoming film project that Steven Spielberg will be directing since 2022’s “The Fabelmans”. This movie, which was nominated for an impressive seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Steven Spielberg himself), Best Actress (Michelle Williams), and Best Supporting Actor (Judd Hirsch), has left quite a mark in the cinematic world. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
