As a lifelong fan of Stephen King’s works, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming movie adaptation of “Autopsy Room Four“. Having read this short story back in 1997 when it was first published in Six Stories, I remember the chilling sense of dread and uncertainty that it evoked. To see it come to life on the big screen is truly a dream come true.
Stephen King’s short story Autopsy Room Four is being turned into a movie.
1997 saw the publication of “Autopsy Room Four” in Stephen King’s collection, titled Six Stories. The story was also included in the Robert Bloch’s Psychos anthology that year.
Now, per Deadline, the short story is being turned into a feature-length movie.
What we do know about the Autopsy Room Four Movie?
The film “Autopsy Room Four” is being helmed by director Ranjeet S. Marwa, with Jon Levin serving as the executive producer.
The narrative explores the thoughts of a man who, following a near-fatal accident, discovers himself confined within an autopsy chamber. As he grapples with his own impending demise, it delves into topics such as dread, endurance, and the enigmatic.
Initially published in Six Stories and Robert Bloch’s Psychos, Autopsy Room Four was compiled in 2002’s collection titled Everything’s Eventual. Later, it was transformed into a one-hour television episode that aired on the Turner Network Television miniseries Nightmares & Dreamscapes: Tales from the Stories of Stephen King.
Marwa’s past movie portfolio consists of Memoirs of a Sikh Soldier (released in 2018), The Missing (2019), Rupture (2022), Spring Lakes (2023), and Ballistic (scheduled for 2024). As reported by Deadline, his 2012 short film titled “The Man Who Loved Flowers” draws inspiration from the works of King.
In 2019, Levin served as an executive producer for the film “In the Tall Grass,” which is adapted from a novella of the same title written by Stephen King and Joe Hill in 2012. This movie can be found on Netflix for viewing and streaming. It features Patrick Wilson, Harrison Gilbertson, Laysla De Oliveira, Rachel Wilson, among others.
Besides these, Levin has taken part in various productions including The Breadwinner (2017), Marshall (2017), Stargirl (2020), Cut Throat City (2020), and several others.
At the moment, there’s no word on who will be starring in Autopsy Room Four. The release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
