Following the unexpected halt of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” I hopped onto the airwaves and shared my thoughts. A slew of star-studded guests graced my presence, and in good spirits, we took a jab at CBS, alluding to the recent viral Coldplay concert fiasco. Remember that incident where the Astronomer CEO was caught red-handed, engaging in an affair on their Kiss Cam? Yeah, that one! It made for quite a lively show.
So what did Stephen Colbert actually do in the July 21 episode?
How did Stephen Colbert recreate Coldplay kiss cam incident?
Last night, I tuned into The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and let me tell you, it was a star-studded event! There was Weird Al Yankovic, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and many more big names gracing the stage. What a lineup!
In recent times, the Coldplay concert’s “kiss cam” moment has gone viral across various digital platforms. This event has sparked widespread discussions as well. Given its dramatic nature, it was bound to become a part of mainstream cultural conversations.
During the performance of Viva La Vida on the CBS talk show segment, the camera moved among the spectators. It captured Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen seated together, as well as Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart and John Oliver, and Christopher McDonald along with Adam Sandler.
The camera eventually zoomed in on a lively depiction of Donald Trump embracing the Paramount emblem, mirroring the popular video of Andy Byron hugging the HR chief of the same company during the Coldplay show.
Trump’s embrace of the Paramount emblem could be interpreted as a jab at CBS’s corporate parent, who had agreed to a $16 million settlement with then-President Trump. Later, Colbert voiced his disapproval, labeling it an “offer” or a “bribe.
The skit went on, and Colbert informed Yankovic and Miranda that their song had been terminated. He also mentioned, “It seems this was a ‘strictly monetary choice.’ … It appears that since you began playing that song, the network has suffered—and I can’t fathom how this could be—losses of $40 to $50 million,” implying that CBS had canceled his own show in a similar fashion.
Additionally, he ridiculed the comments CBS issued upon the show’s termination. Numerous individuals speculate that CBS ended the series due to political reasons.
