Steph Curry-Led Mr. Throwback Season 2 Canceled by Peacock

The comedy series titled “Mr. Throwack,” which stars basketball legend Steph Curry, has been taken off the air from Peacock after just one season. This series made its premiere on the streaming platform on August 8, 2024, with all six episodes being released simultaneously.

Stephen Curry-led Mr. Throwback Season 2 not moving ahead at Peacock

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some disappointing news to share: Sadly, Peacock decided not to proceed with Mr. Throwback and we won’t be seeing Season 2 anytime soon. After its initial release, the show garnered generally favorable reviews, though it wasn’t an instant hit. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a commendable 86%, but Metacritic, which averages ratings more weightily, scored it at 57 out of 100, indicating a “mixed or average” reception from viewers.

Together with Mr. Throwback, Peacock has decided to end the production of the dark comedy-thriller TV series titled “Based on a True Story,” created by Craig Rosenberg and starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. After airing for two seasons, the show will no longer be produced. The initial season premiered on June 8, 2023, with the second season following on November 21, 2024.

The comedy series titled “Mr. Throwback” is fashioned in a mockumentary style by creators Daniel Libman, David Caspe, and Matthew Libman. Notably, David Caspe has previously produced shows like ABC’s “Happy Endings”, “Black Monday” on Showtime, as well as the NBC sitcoms “Marry Me” and “Kenan”. The main character in “Mr. Throwback” is Adam Pally’s Danny Grossman, a memorabilia dealer grappling with challenging circumstances. In his youth, Danny was a gifted basketball player; however, those days have passed. When he meets an old teammate who’s now a basketball icon, he attempts to reconnect and become part of his life.

In this role, Curry takes on a fictionalized version of himself, while actors like Ego Nwodim (as Kimberly Gregg), Ayden Mayeri (as Samantha Judlow), and Tracy Letts (as Mitch Grossman) join the cast. Interestingly, Curry has previously played himself in the HBO series Ballers and provided his voice for The Simpsons and Family Guy.
