Steam Deck update fixes “rare bug” and “game resolution” issue for non-Steam games

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can attest to the fact that Valve never ceases to impress me with their innovative solutions for gamers like myself. The latest Steam Deck update is yet another testament to their dedication to improving the gaming experience. Fixing “rare bugs” and addressing game resolution issues for non-Steam games, it’s evident that they are listening to feedback from their community.

The Steam Deck, developed by Valve, is an exceptional portable gaming device that essentially allows you to play your PC games on the move. You’ll find a variety of games to enjoy, and Valve has just rolled out a fresh update. This latest Steam Deck update addresses a “rare bug” and “resolution problems for non-Steam games, and it also offers fixes for various client issues.

As a gaming enthusiast who’s been eagerly awaiting the release of the Steam Deck, I can confidently say that this handheld console has impressed me with a near-perfect 9/10 rating in our review. Since its debut in early 2022, it’s been an absolute joy to game on. But, there’s a slight hiccup: the performance of the Final Fantasy 16 demo hasn’t been smooth sailing on this device. It’s unfortunate because the game itself is simply fantastic!

It’s hoped that the gaming experience will be enhanced prior to the official PC release in September. Interestingly, Valve has just rolled out a new update for the Steam Deck, which addresses some problems with the platform.

Steam Deck update fixes “rare bug” and “game resolution” issue

On August 28th, Valve revealed updates for the Steam Deck Beta Client, as detailed below in the change log:

General

  • Fixed a rare bug that could cause the login page to continuously fail with “error 11” until the client was restarted.
  • Fixed game resolution overrides failing to apply for non-steam games.

Steam Input

  • Added Output Icons to all Mode/Behavior dropdown menus. These indicate if the mode (by default) generates OS Mouse output, XInput (controller) Output, Steam Input API Action Output, or is a remapping tool/Overlay Menu (Touch, Radial, Hotbar).
  • Fix rare issue where Gyro Processing occurred before controller type is established.
  • Fix for Track Pad as Button Behavior not displaying any glyphs.
  • Fix “Gyro Calibration” Button appearing twice on Gyro config screen if there is a mode shift applied to the Gyro.

Moving on to gaming updates, Valve has at last revealed Deadlock, but for now, it can only be accessed through invites sent by playtesters.
