This anthology series features a collection of animated short films developed by various Japanese anime studios and international production companies, and the upcoming season promises to continue this trend.
Disney and Lucasfilm reveal Star Wars: Vision Season 3’s release date window
The third season of Star Wars: Visions is expected to debut on Disney+ around the year 2025, according to a recent announcement by both Disney and Lucasfilm.
The show made its first appearance on September 22, 2021, kick-starting a debut season of nine episodes. Its second season, also comprising nine episodes, launched on May 4, 2023. This groundbreaking production strays from the conventional Disney Star Wars lore, offering its creators a chance to explore one of the most famous fictional realms from fresh and inventive angles.
Both the first and second seasons have garnered praise from critics and enthusiastic responses from viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, Season 1 boasts a remarkable 96% approval rating, while the second season surpassed this with an astounding 100% approval rating based on 22 reviews. This has generated significant anticipation for the show’s upcoming third season.

In Visions Season 3, you’ll find shorts created by an impressive lineup of studios such as Production I.G (known for Ghost in the Shell and anime sequences from Kill Bill Vol. 1), Studio Trigger (creators of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners), David Production (responsible for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), Kinema Citrus (behind The Rising of the Shield Hero), Wit Studio (famous for Attack on Titan), Polygon Pictures (the minds behind Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Project Studio Q (creators of Darling in the Franxx). Furthermore, it includes a short developed jointly by Kamikaze Douga+ and Anima.

As a devoted fan, I must acknowledge that some of these studios have graced us with their talents in the past, specifically during Season 1 of this magnificent show. Production I.G was responsible for crafting Episode 5, “The Ninth Jedi,” while Studio Trigger brought Episode 3, “The Twins,” to life. Moreover, it was Kamikaze Douga who breathed life into the series premiere, “The Duel,” and Kinema Citrus took charge of Episode 4, “The Village Bride.
