As a lifelong Star Wars fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Outlaws has truly taken my breath away. Stepping into the boots of a character on Tatooine, the very planet where Luke Skywalker’s journey began, is an experience that feels both surreal and exhilarating.
In Star Wars Outlaws, players journey through numerous recognizable planets within the Star Wars universe. Set between Episodes 5 and 6, the game cleverly incorporates numerous subtle nods to the original trilogy, as the Rebel Alliance engages in their struggle against the Galactic Empire. One of the planets you can traverse is Tatooine, famous for being the home world of the Skywalker clan, and you’ll have the opportunity to revisit significant movie locations.
Reddit user U/call-lee-free posted pictures showing themselves at the Lars Homestead on Tatooine, a site significant in Star Wars’ Episode 4: A New Hope. This is where we initially meet Luke Skywalker on the arid planet, where he frequently works on electronics such as fixing C3PO and R2-D2 after his uncle, Owen, acquires the droids without recognizing or choosing to ignore their previous ownership by Luke’s father, Anakin Skywalker (Owen’s stepbrother), two decades earlier.

The screenshots show the Reddit user recreating iconic shots from A New Hope, including the camera angle where Aunt Beru speaking to Luke from the courtyard, as well as various shots of when Luke discovers the burning building following the Stormtroopers killing his Aunt and Uncle. As Star Wars Outlaws takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, only a few short years have passed since the events of A New Hope and the building remains largely as it had been left by Luke when he departed for Mos Eisley with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Ubisoft’s initial venture into the Star Wars universe is called “Star Wars Outlaws,” and despite some early criticism, it’s turned out to be an entertaining experience. The game offers a unique perspective within the franchise, as it focuses on characters who aren’t powerful Jedi, but rather ordinary individuals.
