As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have to say that the remaster of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter has piqued my interest. Being a child during the release of the original game on PS2, I missed out on the action-packed adventure of Jango Fett. Now, here’s a chance to relive those memories, or create new ones, depending on your age.
On Monday, a new trailer was unveiled for the remastered version of “Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.” Originally developed by LucasArts in 2002, this action-adventure game follows Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett as he tracks down a renegade Dark Jedi. Aspyr Media is handling the remaster, which is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on August 1st.
What was in the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter trailer?
The new trailer for the re-mastered Star Wars: Bounty Hunter provides a helpful summary if you missed playing it on PS2 or GameCube. This third-person action game follows Jango Fett as he tracks Count Dooku’s rogue apprentice, Komari Vosa, who heads the Bando Gora criminal organization. As a prequel to Attack of the Clones (also released in 1999), the game unfolds just after The Phantom Menace.
In the recently unveiled trailer for Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, not only do we get a glimpse of the action, but also a peek at its gameplay mechanics. Jango Fett boasts an arsenal of weapons such as his famous twin blasters, flamethrower, missile launcher, and additional firepower. Simultaneously, The Mandalorian’s jetpack enables players to explore areas that would otherwise be off-limits, but remember to monitor the fuel gauge consistently.

One of the more unique mechanics from the trailer is the ability to scan NPCs in first-person to look for outstanding bounties. Players then have the choice of killing them or taking them alive with Jango Fett’s whipcord thrower.
Aspyr Media’s past projects of remastering classic Star Wars games haven’t been flawless. For instance, their Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection encountered several “technical issues” upon release and there were accusations that it included unattributed modified content. Fingers crossed that the upcoming Star Wars: Bounty Hunter remaster will avoid these complications.
