CBS Studios’ initial Star Trek television film featuring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, titled Star Trek: Section 31, has had its release date for digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD formats officially set by Paramount Home Entertainment. This announcement follows approximately a month since the sci-fi adventure movie first premiered on Paramount+ streaming service.
The movie finds Michelle Yeoh back in her beloved character, Emperor Philippa Georgiou. She becomes part of a covert Starfleet unit whose mission is to safeguard the United Federation of Planets. As she does so, she confronts the mistakes of her past.
When is the Star Trek: Section 31 digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release date?
Beginning on April 29, 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to either rent or purchase digitally the movie “Star Trek: Section 31.” Simultaneously, it will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Alongside Yeoh, the ensemble cast features Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), and Joe Pingue (The Expanse. Miku Martineau, known from “Kate,” will portray a young Philippa Georgiou in the film.

- Art Squad – Production Designer Paul Kirby and Set Decorator Summer Gaal take us through the sets designed for Section 31. (available only on UHD, Blu-ray and Digital)
- Alpha Squad – A breakdown of each of the six members of the Section 31 Squad: Alok, Quasi, Zeph, Rachel Garrett, Melle and Fuzz.
- Stunts Squad – Stunt Coordinator Christopher McGuire and his team take us through the prep and execution of many of the stunts designed for the film.
- Gear Squad – Prop Master Mario Moreira gives a look inside the prop closet and all the gadgets
- Georgiou – Philippa Georgiou is one of the most complex characters in Trek history. Sometimes a villain. Sometimes a hero. The producers, screenplay writer Craig Sweeny, the team that created her look, and the Emperor herself, Michelle Yeoh, talk about further developing this fascinating character.

This movie was orchestrated by Olatunde Osunsanmi, who worked from a script penned by Craig Sweeny, inspired by an original idea by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt. The executive producers are Yeoh, Osunsanmi, Alex Kurtzman, Craig Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Eugene Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth. It’s a collaborative effort between CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Since its release, it has garnered unfavorable feedback from both critics and viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a Tomatometer rating of 19%.
