SSMB29: Vijayendra Prasad reveals shoot for Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli’s film to start in Jan 2025; says it took 2 years to develop story

As a long-time follower of the mesmerizing world of Telugu cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming collaboration between the legendary Mahesh Babu and the visionary SS Rajamouli, titled SSMB29. Having witnessed the masterful storytelling of Vijayendra Prasad in films like Baahubali and RRR, I am eagerly anticipating what they have in store for us this time around.

Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli are teaming up for the first time in their upcoming project, which is currently referred to as SSMB29. The film’s scriptwriter, who also happens to be Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad, has finally shared exciting insights about this highly anticipated movie!

At a recent Masterclass event featuring Vijayendra Prasad, the esteemed writer shared that the filming is set to commence in January 2025. Additionally, he disclosed that typically, they spend around 3-4 weeks crafting a story, but for this particular project involving Mahesh Babu, they have spent over two years in its development.

The upcoming movie featuring the famous actor was previously announced as a blockbuster film with potential contributions from actors worldwide. This anticipated production, slated for an exciting journey around the world, is being developed on a large, cinematic scope.

Furthermore, this prominent author has disclosed that the upcoming film will offer a unique, unexplored world to viewers, which is distinct from other Indian cinematic productions. The title of the movie, SSMB29 or SSRMB, remains undecided as speculation swirls about the cast, with many rumors circulating and official confirmation yet to be made public.

On the career side of Mahesh Babu, the renowned actor recently appeared in the movie “Guntur Kaaram” earlier this year. This film, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is an action-drama that unfolds the tale of Ramana, a character who seeks to rebuild his relationship with his long-lost mother after she left him as a child.

The film revolves around a man reconnecting with his mother as he seeks to uncover why she distanced herself from him, but unfortunately, despite a talented cast including Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, and others in pivotal roles, it struggled to find success at the box office.

The renowned star will soon provide his voice for the Disney movie “Mufasa: The Lion King.” In the Telugu-dubbed version, it’s Mahesh who will voice the character of Mufasa, adding a legendary charm to the retelling of the orphaned king’s tale.

It’s worth noting that renowned actor Brahmanandam is providing the voice for Pumbaa, while actor Ali is giving voice to Timon, in the Telugu adaptation of the film.
