The buzz surrounding Squid Game Season 2 continues to grow, sparking intense discussions among fans. One intriguing theory posits that the character known as the Front Man from Season 2 could be the son of a previously introduced villain, Il-Nam. Initially perceived as a gentle and vulnerable figure, Il-Nam was later revealed to be the orchestrator behind the games. Fans are now questioning if there is a link between this enigmatic character and the Front Man who competed alongside Gi-hun in Season 2.
Here’s everything we know about whether the Front Man is Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game Season 2.
Is the Front Man Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game Season 2?
There is no definite proof confirming the theory that the Front Man is Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game.
Supporters think the elderly man from Season 1, Il-Nam, could be the Front Man’s father due to the widely shared “Milk Theory.” This theory originated from a post on January 5, 2025, on a social media platform (formerly Twitter). The post includes two images: one from Season 1 showing Il-Nam and Gi-Hun, and another from Season 2 featuring Gi-Hun and the Front Man. In the Season 1 image, Il-Nam is seen telling Gi-Hun “You’re like my son, he couldn’t drink milk either.” In contrast, the Season 2 image shows the Front Man giving his milk to Jun-hee, stating “I can’t drink it myself.” The post implies that the Front Man is actually Il-Nam’s son. However, there’s a significant error in both images.
In the first season, viewers who have rewatched confirmed that Il-Nam never explicitly stated that his son couldn’t drink milk. Instead, when Gi-Hun asked for chocolate milk due to digestion issues with regular milk, Il-Nam commented, “As a kid, I’d wager you got spanked a lot… my son did too. He was just like you, friend.” Similarly, during Season 2, the subtitle for the scene where the Front Man gives Jun-hee milk reads “I don’t drink plain milk,” but it could be more accurately interpreted as “Here, I can’t drink it myself.
In the heat of the game, it’s clear as day that theFront Man isn’t Old Man Il-nam’s offspring, squashing any theories linking them as father and son. Granted, the writers might have something up their sleeves for a later twist, but so far, the show hasn’t given us a single clue to support this idea.
