'Spoke about the character, not the person': Arshad Warsi finally breaks silence on his controversial 'joker' comment about Prabhas

As a seasoned observer of the dynamic world of Indian cinema, I must say that the recent controversy surrounding Arshad Warsi’s comment about Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD has been an intriguing spectacle. While it is essential to respect everyone’s opinions and artistic interpretations, it is equally crucial to understand the context in which they are shared.

Arshad Warsi has spoken out regarding the criticism he faced after making a contentious comment about Prabhas being likened to a jester in a movie. To clarify for those not in the know, he had previously stated that Prabhas was like a joker in the film. But at a recent gathering, he expressed his true feelings and referred to Prabhas as an ‘exceptional’ actor.

Arshad Warsi expressed, “Everyone has their unique perspective, and people often misconstrue noise. I was discussing the character, not the individual. Prabhas is an exceptional actor, consistently demonstrating his talent, which we are all aware of. It’s disheartening for the audience when a negative character is given to a skilled actor.

The whole uproar began after Arshad expressed his displeasure towards Kalki 2898 AD during an interview with Samdish Bhatia. Additionally, he voiced his dissatisfaction with Prabhas’ portrayal in the film.

Arshad Warsi expressed his disappointment, saying, “Prabhas, I’m truly puzzled, why did they cast him as if he was a joker. I yearn to see Mad Max, Mel Gibson on the screen instead. What have you all done with him? I just can’t grasp your reasoning.

After making his comments, Arshad faced criticism from social media users and members of the movie industry. Even director Nag Ashwin reacted to his contentious statement by posting a message on his Twitter account.

I penned, “Let’s avoid regressing…no more north-south or Bollywood vs Tollywood…let’s focus on the grand scheme – a unified Indian Film Industry. Arshad sir could have chosen his words more carefully, but it’s all good. I’m just sending toys for his kids as a loving uncle. I work hard to ensure tweets like ‘Prabhas is the best ever in Baahubali 2’ don’t go unnoticed.
