As a die-hard fan of FPS games, I can confidently say that Splitgate is one of the most underrated gems in the genre. The unique blend of Halo’s fast-paced action and Portal’s portal mechanics created an experience unlike any other, leaving me hooked from the very first gameplay session.
1047 Games’ Splitgate stands out as an exceptional first-person shooter (FPS) game that you might not have tried yet. By merging the elements of Halo’s thrilling, action-packed gameplay with Portal’s portal technology, they’ve crafted a uniquely enjoyable FPS experience in modern times. Traveling through walls by opening portals adds an intriguing layer to both combat and exploration.
I’ve been a passionate fan of Splitgate since its release last year. However, despite the initial buzz with over 67,000 concurrent players on Steam post-launch in August 2021, the game unfortunately didn’t sustain its momentum. A year later, concurrent player numbers had dropped to a dismal 1,500. Today, the average is around 300 concurrent players on Steam. It’s unfortunate that the developers abandoned the project in September 2022. But fortunately, the game isn’t being shut down yet and we, the dedicated fanbase, are still able to enjoy it.
As a curious gamer, I’ve been keeping an eye on 1047 Games’ latest updates. Recently, they dropped a hint about their upcoming game on X, with a official reveal scheduled for July 18th. Details are scarce at the moment, but based on the teaser, it seems we’re in for another shooter title. Fingers crossed that the portal mechanics from their previous games make a return – those added a unique twist to gameplay and set their titles apart from the crowd. Can’t wait to find out more!

I’m excitedly checking the Splitgate website every day now, as all the content has been swapped out for a countdown timer. The anticipation is building, and with the timer set to hit zero on July 18th, it feels like we’re on the brink of a new announcement. Could this be a long-awaited sequel? Fingers crossed!
Users expressed their opinions on the post’s comments section, with @th3jmanx stating “I have complete faith in @1047Games to produce a top-notch arena shooter game. I’ve been eagerly anticipating its release for quite some time now!” And @ZEPCASTS excitedly exclaimed “If this is indeed the sequel announcement, then my year has been made! Let’s start the esports tournaments right away and I can’t wait to cast all of them!”
Now, I’ll install Splitgate once more and immerse myself in it anew, setting a reminder for July 18th.
