Splatoon 3 will no longer get regular updates, seasonal events to continue

As a seasoned Splatoon veteran with ink-stained fingers and a heart full of squid-like love, I must say, the news about the Grand Festival marking the end of regular updates for Splatoon 3 has left me both sad and excited. The game has been my go-to when I want to immerse myself in a world filled with vibrant colors, strategic battles, and friendly competition.

Instead of getting routine updates, it appears that Splatoon 3 has reached a point where further significant updates will not be provided. The game is now two years old, and with the Grand Festival marking the end of the Splatfest in an exciting manner, Nintendo seems to be scaling back its continued support for the title. However, players can still look forward to participating in events and receiving occasional updates when necessary.

Hey there, Team Past fans! Let me take a moment to reminisce about all the splendiferous Splatfests we’ve shared together along this journey. Thanks for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us in the Splatlands; it’s been an absolute blast!

On September 15, 2024, the grand event known as Splatfest in Splatoon 3 took place, where players battled out their opinions about what matters most: Past, Present, or Future. This was a huge festival that even saw some old musical stars making an appearance. However, this event also signaled the conclusion of regular game updates, as announced on the official Splatoon North America social media platform.

As per the announcement, regular updates have come to an end, but special seasonal events like Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights are still on schedule. Weapon balancing adjustments will also take place when necessary. For now, Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue as usual.

It’s plausible that as support for Splatoon 3 diminishes, Nintendo might be focusing on developing Splatoon 4. Given that Nintendo has hinted at an announcement for the next Nintendo Switch model, it seems likely that they would also be creating a new installment of one of their most successful online games, considering the possibility of a new console launch.

At the moment, participants are enjoying the post-Grand Festival euphoria and eagerly anticipating the upcoming seasonal activity. Check out our NTDOY and Splatoon series webpage for further details about Nintendo’s financial reports and the squid-based game.
