As a lifelong comic book fan who’s seen more Spider-Man iterations than I can count on one hand (and still have fingers left for other superheroes), I must say, I’m genuinely thrilled about the upcoming live-action series, Spider-Noir! The casting is nothing short of impressive. Lukas Haas and Cameron Britton are always a delight to watch, and with Nicolas Cage stepping into the web-slinger’s shoes, this series promises an electrifying performance that will send chills down our spines.
In simple terms, eight new cast members have been added to the upcoming live-action series called “Spider-Noir,” which is a spin-off from the Spider-Man Noir comics and will be airing on MGM+ and Prime Video.
Who is in the Spider-Noir Cast?
According to reports, Lukas Haas from First Man, Cameron Britton of The Umbrella Academy, Cary Christopher known for Days of Our Lives, Michael Kostroff famed for The Wire, Scott MacArthur recognized by The Mick, Joe Massingill well-known as Barry, Whitney Rice fresh off Jury Duty, and Amanda Schull from 12 Monkeys have all signed on to appear regularly in Spider-Noir.
Nicolas Cage headlines Spider-Noir as an “aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.” Cage famously voiced the role of Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Other than Cage, the character Spider-Noir includes Lamorne Morris portraying Robbie Robertson, while Brendan Gleeson takes on the role of a villain. The cast is completed by Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston in supporting roles.
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot have been appointed as joint creators and high-ranking producers for this upcoming series. They collaborated on the development of the show with the team behind Spider-Verse, which includes Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Harry Bradeer is not only a top-level producer but will also take on the role of director for the premiere episodes.
Lord and Miller’s initial venture into a real-life Spider-Man portrayal was with Spider-Noir. This dynamic duo scooped up the Best Animated Feature award at the 91st Oscars for their work on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The follow-up, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, garnered rave reviews and financial success. Currently, they are working on a third installment titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
While there’s no specific launch date for Spider-Noir yet, you can expect to see it first on MGM+. Later, it will be available worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
