With Marvel Rivals wrapping up Season 1.5, the game’s competitive scene is experiencing another significant shift. This transformation is primarily driven by the hero ban system, initially exclusive to Diamond rank players and higher. Originally intended to curb the dominance of overpowered characters, this ban feature has now become a critical tactical element. It enables teams to sway matches by removing powerful characters from their opponents’ lineup.

For several months, Wolverine fought his way onto the ban list due to his brutal attacks against the Vanguard, making him a highly sought-after target by almost everyone. However, as we approach the launch of Season 2, the adamantium symbol has been removed from its throne. Surprisingly, data from RivalsMeta indicates a shocking turn of events: a new hero has overtaken Wolverine to become the most banned character during Season 1.5.

After being on the ban list for months because of his destructive actions against the Vanguard, making him a threat almost everywhere, Wolverine’s adamantium symbol was removed from its position before Season 2 started. As a gamer, let me tell you, I’m not going to mince words here – it wasn’t Wolverine that players loathed in Season 1.5 of Marvel Rivals. Instead, it was everyone’s favorite wall-crawler, Spider-Man, who ended up on the ban list as we wrapped up the season.

In the RivalsMeta rankings, Spider-Man leads the pack with a ban rate of 34.38%, placing him at the top spot. This is followed closely by Groot, who comes in second with a ban percentage of 31.67%. Interestingly, Wolverine, who was the most banned hero during Season 1, has slipped to third place with a ban rate of 30.39%.

As a gamer, I wrapped up Season 1.5 with an impressive win rate of 48.53% and a pick rate of 19.31%, all while logging just 287,830 matches under my belt. This is notably higher than Wolverine’s stats. Unfortunately, despite numerous complaints from players about his broken hitbox issues, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man remains unpatched in the Season 2 update, keeping him at the pinnacle of the banned heroes list.

From here on out, Season 2 introduces a new twist to the pick/ban system that I’m really excited about! As a player in Gold III, I now have the power to ban characters in competitive matches. This could significantly alter the stats we’re used to seeing. In fact, Emma Frost might become one of the most frequently banned heroes because of her incredibly powerful abilities.
