As a die-hard fan of the Spider-Verse saga, I couldn’t be more ecstatic about Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson being tapped to direct “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse“. Having been part of the team since the very beginning, their involvement in this final chapter feels like a homecoming.
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson have been chosen to lead the direction of Sony Animation’s upcoming project, titled “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Realms“.
As a passionate gamer, I can’t wait to dive back into the amazing world of Sony’s Spider-Verse with the third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse! This epic adventure continues from where it all began in 2018 with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and carries on after the 2023 release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I’m ready to explore even more dimensions of this captivating universe!
In the creation of “Into the Spider-Verse”, Persichetti shared director duties with Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, and served as an executive producer for the sequel “Across the Spider-Verse”. Concurrently, Thompson was the production designer on “Into the Spider-Verse” before teaming up with Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers as co-directors for “Across the Spider-Verse”.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will have a ‘very satisfying ending’
Regarding the direction of Beyond the Spider-Verse, Persichetti and Thompson expressed in a statement via Deadline, “It’s an incredible honor to have been involved with Miles’ journey since its start, and directing the final chapter is more than thrilling. Every moment of this project has been filled with creativity and heartfelt dedication. We believe we’ve created a very fulfilling conclusion, and we can hardly wait for fans to see it – we’re giving it our all!
Phil Lord and Chris Miller commented, “The creativity and passion of Bob and Justin is evident in every scene of Miles’ final journey. Their unique touch is intrinsically linked to these films, and it’s a joy to collaborate with such visionary minds. We can’t wait to team up with them again to bring this story to its fitting end.
Currently, specifics about the storyline of Spider-Verse’s sequel are being kept secret. The screenplay was penned by Lord, Miller, and David Callaham, with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh acting as producers. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg hold the roles of executive producers for this film.
Currently, there’s no set release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse since it was removed from Sony’s schedule in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
