But let me make it clear, while the idea has fans buzzing, there’s no official word yet on whether this theory will become reality.
Andrew Garfield wishes to return as Spider-Man in a ‘unique’ and ‘surprising’ way
At the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, actor Andrew Garfield expressed his desire to reprise his role as Spider-Man following the movie “No Way Home”.
He declared his affection for playing the role of Spider-Man, and expressed his desire to reprise the character in some form or another.
The actor shared one prerequisite for reprising his role as Spider-Man: he’d prefer a bizarre, distinctive, and unexpected take on the character, similar to the creative liberties taken with the animated Spider-Verse films that explore the multiverse.

In anticipation of Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters on July 31, 2026, speculation has arisen about whether Andrew Garfield might reappear in the film alongside Tom Holland. Yet, as confirmed in September 2024, these rumors have been refuted by Garfield himself.
Initially appearing as a Marvel superhero character in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man (in 2012), Garfield subsequently reprised the role in its sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (in 2014). Despite anticipation for another installment, no third film was produced. Alex Kurtzman, one of the writers for TASM 2, revealed to ScreenRant in January 2025 that they hadn’t written a third movie; instead, he worked on just parts 1 and 2.
Now it remains to be seen if and when Garfield returns in the Spider-Man suit.
