As a hardcore Destiny 2 player with over a thousand hours under my belt, I must say that the new Sovereignty Void Sniper Rifle has certainly caught my eye. With its unique Withering Gaze perk and the versatile Adaptive Frame archetype, it’s a breath of fresh air in the sea of snipers we’ve grown accustomed to.
In Destiny 2, the Sovereignty is a recently introduced Void Sniper Rifle belonging to the Adaptive Frame category. This sniper rifle boasts several potential best-in-class builds due to its combination of useful perks and a unique new feature that’s worth exploring. Below are our suggested god rolls for PvE (Player vs Environment) and PvP (Player vs Player) scenarios.
Sovereignty god roll – PvE
In this unique twist for the PvE Sovereignty god roll, we’re emphasizing the freshly introduced perk, Withering Gaze, rather than focusing solely on high damage output (DPS) as you already have numerous such options available with Sniper Rifles.
Sovereignty god roll – PvE | |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake (Recoil Direction +23, Handling +10) |
Magazine | Flared Magwell (Reload Speed +15, Stability +5) |
Perk 1 | No Distractions (Aiming this weapon for a short period reduces flinch) |
Perk 2 | Withering Gaze (Aiming this weapon for a short period of time without firing grants the ability to weaken the next target. Timer resets after firing or when you stop aiming down sights) |
Origin Trait | Dark Ether Reaper (Finals blows with this weapon periodically spawn Dark Ether charges. Charges can be detonated early with weapons fire or by coming into contact with them. Doing so refills this weapon from reserves) |
Masterwork | Handling |
Mod | Targeting Adjuster (Aim Assistance +5) |
To clarify what was stated earlier, the ideal PvE build for Sovereignty is somewhat unique due to the inclusion of Withering Gaze, a novel perk that enables you to debilitate an opponent with Weaken, which proves highly advantageous during boss battles. Unlike other weapons, applying this effect effortlessly and without relying on a Void subclass sets Sovereignty apart. While Buried Bloodline can also weaken enemies upon impact when fully upgraded, its setup process is more complex in comparison.
As a dedicated fan, here’s my advice: To ensure a smooth landing of that crucial shot, employ Arrowhead Brake to mitigate the recoil. Keep your focus unwavering with No Distractions to avoid flinching. Lastly, opt for a Handling Masterwork with a Targeting Adjuster Mod to enhance precision. With just one well-aimed shot, switch swiftly to your Heavy weapon for the substantial damage follow-up.
If you’re looking for a Void DPS Sniper Rifle, you might consider choosing Enlightened Action and Precision Instrument as alternatives. However, it’s worth noting that there’s already an option called Embraced Identity god roll, which can come equipped with Reconstruction or Rewind Rounds in the first column.
Sovereignty god roll – PvP
Among the numerous top-tier Sniper Rifles for PvP, this exceptional Sovereignty god roll aims to secure a spot in your gear collection.
Sovereignty god roll – PvP | |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake (Recoil Direction +23, Handling +10) |
Magazine | Flared Magwell (Reload Speed +15, Stability +5) |
Perk 1 | Demolitionist (Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves) |
Perk 2 | Harmony (Final blows with other weapons improve this weapon’s damage and performance for a short duration) |
Origin Trait | Dark Ether Reaper (Finals blows with this weapon periodically spawn Dark Ether charges. Charges can be detonated early with weapons fire or by coming into contact with them. Doing so refills this weapon from reserves) |
Masterwork | Handling |
Mod | Quick Access Sling |
Just like on the PvE mode, Arrowhead Brake significantly improves the rifle’s recoil pattern by making it kick vertically rather than veering off to the side. Flared Magwell offers a slight boost to stability and reload speed, which can be beneficial as you accumulate more kills.
The Demolitionist ability effectively recharges your grenades quickly, allowing for continuous use. This repetitive usage can lead to multiple defeats. On the other hand, Harmony is an intriguing choice and can be beneficial in the Crucible. Typically, you’ll find yourself scoring kills with your Primary weapon, which increases the base damage of Sovereignty. Consequently, even if a headshot misses, you might still secure one-hit kills when the enemy is nearly depleted of health.
Sovereignty is an interesting Sniper Rifle with a couple of unique perk combinations. While a god roll of this weapon may not replace your tried-and-true favorites, it’s worth checking out if only to see how these perks work together.
