Actress Nazriya Nazim gave an outstanding performance following her break, starring in the black comedy mystery film Sookshmadarshini. The movie received praise from critics and viewers nationwide, breaking box office records and setting a new standard for Malayalam cinema.
According to a report from OTTPlay, the movie’s director, MC Jithin, disclosed that Nazriya wasn’t initially the chosen actress for the script.
In the course of an interview, it was disclosed that the concept of Sookshmadarshini had originally been proposed as a screenplay for a Hindi movie, featuring a leading Bollywood actress in the main role.
In sharing additional details, MC Jithin recounted an instance where a Bollywood film producer expressed interest in acquiring the rights to his initial directorial work, titled “Nonsense.
Despite underperforming in the Southern regions, the filmmaker remains optimistic about its success if re-made for Bollywood.
Being utterly captivated by the world of filmmaking and eager to bring Nonsense to life, I found myself in a predicament when securing the rights proved challenging. With undeterred determination, I decided to present an alternative script, Sookshmadarshini, to the producer, hoping it would pave the way for my cinematic vision to become reality.
As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but be thrilled when I learned that the visionaries behind Hindi films were captivated by the intriguing plot and swiftly secured the calendar dates of a star actress from Bollywood for the part – a role that ultimately was brought to life by the enchanting Nazriya.
As things were moving smoothly, the pandemic caused a halt in the plans, as per the Malayalam film director, since Bollywood producers decided not to proceed.
Afterward, he presented the Sookshmadarshini script to numerous other producers based in Kerala, before eventually handing it over to Samir Thahir for production.
For the unversed, the Nazriya Nazim starrer is now available on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.
