Sony recently released the initial preview for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” a new installment reviving the terrifying horror series by the same name, scheduled to hit cinemas on July 18th.
For enthusiasts of the first three movies, the storyline here feels recognizable. The movie centers around five companions who unwittingly trigger a lethal car crash, hiding their involvement in a vow to avoid the repercussions. However, a year later, their past catches up with them as they’re compelled to grapple with a chilling reality: someone is aware of their long-buried secret from last summer…and appears determined on exacting revenge. As one by one these friends are pursued by a murderer, they uncover that similar events have happened before and seek aid from the two survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre of 1997.
The original stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are set to return, although it’s uncertain which other characters from the horror series may appear again. Joining the franchise for the first time are actors Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.
