As a dedicated gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that I am utterly disappointed and frustrated by Sony’s decision to require a PlayStation Network account for playing God of War: Ragnarök on PC.
God of War: Ragnarok is the follow-up to God of War (2018) and debuted exclusively on PlayStation. Fans have been eagerly requesting a PC version of this captivating sequel, featuring intense battles and an emotionally charged narrative, for quite some time.
Since the game has been released for PC, the reviews I’ve seen don’t seem to capture my own enthusiasm at all. In reality, the feedback I’ve encountered has been quite negative.
The reason is Sony.
PlayStation Network Connection Required
Fans are upset due to a specific condition set by Sony, requiring players to connect a PlayStation Network account in order to play God of War: Ragnarök on personal computers.
This is exactly what happened with Helldivers 2, earlier this year.
The reviews are all basically screaming the same thing:
This provides no benefit to the customer and only worsens the overall experience, adding unnecessary security risks on top of being an inconvenience to the user and not even allowing people in certain countries to have access to it.

The game currently holds a 6 out of 10 rating on Steam, which seems unbelievable given its quality. It’s no wonder the players feel frustrated with the restrictions that seem unnecessary while playing such an excellent game.
As always, we will have to wait and see, how Sony will respond to this backlash.
